User-centered CMS for the Space Force portal

The United States Space Force (USSF) is the newest military branch. The bigger the Space Force became, the bigger the issue of information dissemination became. See how I designed and developed a portal that put control in the hands of the 15,000 plus Space Force Guardians.

Some of my case studies may take you to my old website.

Improving the second most traumatic thing after active combat for service members, Moving

Moving is the second most traumatic military experience for service members, trailing only active combat deployment. Read the case study to see how I helped the Department of Defense (DoD) design and research products to improve the service member (and family) moving experience.

Creating addressable relationships with a human-centered email wall

As a part of the product team, I used qualitative and quantitative research methods to design an email capture wall which created addressable relationships with listeners. To keep news accessible, I designed an off-ramp so anyone can read the news. As a direct result, we did 90k in newsletter ads. That is no small feat for public radio.

Closing a gap in the digital divide; using service design to transform public library laptop rental from a degrading experience to a rewarding experience

See how I used service design methodologies to build better public services.

Reducing risk with research

When designing and building complex software, issues, and bugs are inevitable. We do not expect to build the perfect software on the first try - this sets us up for unhappy surprises. See how I reduced risk to our product launch by planning and executing the first of eight large-scale onsite research trips.

WBEZ application redesign: Making trusted news accessible

As the first user experience designer at Chicago Public Media, I redesigned and launched the WBEZ application for iOS and Android to better address user needs. WBEZ 91.5 is a non-commercial educational radio station.

Moving is the most traumatic when something unexpected happens; Research led the way for service design methods, resulting in happier families

Through research we discovered a primary pain point for the military move experience is when the unexpected happens. Using service design and experience design methods we created flexible storage options during a move.

What stops young people from voting? Our research says isolation. See what my team & I did to bridge the gap:

As a part of my senior capstone, I was a part of a self-organizing student team. Our task? We were asked to improve Americans voter experience. Through research, we found the number one problem stopping our target demographic from voting was a lack of understanding of the voting process. We addressed this pain point with the application VEER.
